If you are looking to apply for a new ration card in Rajasthan, check your application status, download your ration card PDF, or complete Aadhaar seeding, you are in the right place. The Department of Food and Civil Supplies, Government of Rajasthan, issues ration cards to eligible households so they can buy subsidised food grains from Fair Price Shops (FPS) under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
Rajasthan has a unique setup compared to other states. The primary portal for all ration card services is food.rajasthan.gov.in. Application status is checked at food.rajasthan.gov.in/form_status.aspx. Ration card PDF download is done at rrcc.rajasthan.gov.in. New applications go through the SSO portal via e-Mitra. Additionally, Rajasthan is the only state where a Jan Aadhaar card is mandatory for all ration card services, making it a key requirement before you apply.
For a national overview of ration cards and the One Nation One Ration Card scheme, read our Ration Card India guide.
Card Categories and What Each Gets You
Rajasthan issues ration cards in four categories based on household income and socio-economic status:
Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) – Yellow Card
For the poorest of poor households identified by the Gram Sabha or Municipal Corporation. Families with no fixed income, such as landless labourers, widows, and the elderly with no support, fall under this category. Each AAY household receives 35 kg of food grains per month at subsidised rates of rice at Rs 3 per kg, wheat at Rs 2 per kg, and coarse grains at Rs 1 per kg, regardless of family size.
Priority Household (PHH) – BPL Card
For families living below the poverty line identified under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). Each eligible member receives 5 kg of food grains per month at the same subsidised rates as AAY.
State BPL Card – Dark Green Card
For families categorised as BPL by the Gram Sabha or Municipal Corporation under state-level schemes. These households also receive subsidised food grains through the PDS.
Above Poverty Line (APL) Card
For families above the poverty line. APL cardholders receive limited or no subsidy on food grains under NFSA, but the card serves as valid identity and address proof for various government services.
What You Must Know Before Applying
Rajasthan has two requirements that no other state demands at this level:
Jan Aadhaar is mandatory. Jan Aadhaar is Rajasthan’s unified family identity card. Every ration card application in Rajasthan requires a valid Jan Aadhaar number. If you do not have one, get it made first at your nearest e-Mitra centre before applying for a ration card.
SSO ID is needed for the online application. Applications are submitted through the Rajasthan SSO portal via e-Mitra. You need a Rajasthan SSO ID to proceed online. You can register for an SSO ID using your Jan Aadhaar number or Aadhaar number at sso.rajasthan.gov.in.
Who Can Apply for Ration Card in Rajasthan State
- Must be a permanent resident of Rajasthan with valid address proof in the state.
- Must hold a Jan Aadhaar card.
- The household must not already hold a valid ration card anywhere in India.
- Newly married couples who do not have a ration card can apply for a new one.
- Individuals with expired or temporary ration cards can apply for a fresh regular card.
- Annual income must be within the limits set for the BPL, PHH, or AAY category.
- Families owning four-wheelers, paying income tax, or employed in government positions above certain grade levels are not eligible for subsidised categories.
Documents Required at the Time of Application
The exact documents required may vary depending on the type of application, NFSA eligibility category, and verification requirements of the Food Department. Generally, applicants should keep the following documents ready:
- Jan Aadhaar card or Jan Aadhaar number
- Aadhaar Card of the head of the family and family members
- Address proof showing residence in Rajasthan
- Passport-size photograph of the applicant (if required)
- Mobile number linked with Aadhaar Card or Jan Aadhaar
- Existing ration card or surrender certificate (if applicable)
- Supporting documents for member addition, deletion, or correction requests
Additional documents may be requested during verification depending on the applicant’s category and circumstances.
