Uttar Pradesh Ration Card: Apply Online, Check Status, Download PDF & Eligibility List

A ration card in Uttar Pradesh is issued by the Food and Civil Supplies Department of the state government. It gives eligible families access to subsidised food grains such as rice, wheat, and sugar every month through Fair Price Shops (FPS) under the Public Distribution System (PDS). It also works as a valid proof of identity and residence for various government schemes.

The entire system is managed through the official portal fcs.up.gov.in. From checking the beneficiary list and tracking application status to downloading the e-ration card, all services are available on this single platform.

The Food and Civil Supplies Department issues the following categories under NFSA:

Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY)

Issued to the poorest households with no steady source of income, including landless agricultural labourers, daily wage workers, widows, and senior citizens above 60 with no support. Each AAY household gets 35 kg of food grains per month at subsidised rates, regardless of family size.

Priority Household (PHH)

Issued to low-income families that meet the eligibility criteria set under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) 2013, based on the 2011 Socio-Economic Caste Census. Each eligible member receives 5 kg of food grains per month at subsidised prices.

For both categories, the subsidised rates are rice at Rs 3 per kg, wheat at Rs 2 per kg, and coarse grains at Rs 1 per kg.

Adding or Removing a Family Member

Adding a Member

In Uttar Pradesh, a new member can be added through the District Food and Civil Supplies Office or through a CSC. The request must be submitted with the following documents:

  • Existing Ration Card (original).
  • Aadhaar card of the new member.
  • Birth certificate – for newborn addition.
  • Marriage certificate – for the addition of a spouse after marriage.
  • Deletion proof from the previous ration card – if the member
    was listed on another card.
  • Relationship proof with the head of the household.

After document verification by the District Supply Officer, the new member’s name gets updated in the beneficiary list. Check the updated list on fcs.up.gov.in
to confirm successful addition before visiting the Fair Price Shop.

Removing a Member

Step 1: Download the Ration Card Deletion Form from fcs.up.gov.in under the Download Forms section.

Step 2: Fill in the form with the member’s details and attach a copy of the ration card, identity proof, and address proof.

Step 3: Submit at the District Food and Civil Supplies Office.

How to Correct Name or Address in UP Ration Card

If the name, address, age, gender, or relationship of any family member is incorrectly recorded in your UP Ration Card, you need to apply for a correction at the District Food and Civil Supplies Office or through your nearest CSC. Incorrect details can cause problems during Aadhaar authentication and e-KYC verification at the Fair Price Shop.

Documents generally required for correction:

  • Existing ration card (original).
  • Aadhaar card showing the correct details.
  • Supporting document with correct information – voter ID,
birth certificate, school certificate, or bank passbook
    as applicable.
  • Fill the modification/correction request form as available at the District Office or on fcs.up.gov.in under the Download Forms section.

Important: Before applying for a correction in the ration card, ensure that the correct details are also updated in your Aadhaar record. Consistent information across both
Records prevent future authentication failures at the FPS.

How to Surrender a UP Ration Card

A UP ration card must be surrendered when the household permanently migrates to another state, no longer qualifies for NFSA benefits, or wants to apply for a new card after changing the residential address to another district.

Documents generally required for surrender:

  • Original Ration Card.
  • Aadhaar card of the head of the household.
  • Proof of reason for surrender – migration proof, new address proof, or any relevant document.
  • Written surrender application addressed to the District Supply Officer.

Step 1: Visit your District Food and Civil Supplies Office or nearest Tehsil Office with the above documents.

Step 2: Submit the original ration card along with the written application and supporting documents.

Step 3: The officer will process the surrender and issue a Surrender Certificate.

Important: Keep the surrender certificate safe. It is a mandatory document if you apply for a new ration card in UP or any other state after surrendering this card.
