Madhya Pradesh Ration Card: Apply Process & Patra Parchi Guide

If you live in Madhya Pradesh and want to apply for a ration card, download your Patra Parchi, or check the beneficiary list, this guide covers everything you need. The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Government of Madhya Pradesh, manages the entire ration card system through the csmsmpscsc.mp.gov.in/rationmitra.

Madhya Pradesh is different from every other state in one important way: it does not issue a traditional ration card. Instead, it issues a Patra Parchi (पात्रता पर्ची), a digital eligibility receipt that serves as your official proof of ration entitlement. This Patra Parchi is accepted at all Fair Price Shops across MP for the collection of subsidised food grains.

The second thing that makes MP unique is Samagra ID. Every ration card service in MP requires a valid Samagra Family ID. Without it, you cannot apply, update, or download your ration card. If you do not have a Samagra ID yet, you must get one first before proceeding with any ration card service.

Understanding Samagra ID Before You Start

Samagra ID is a unique identification number issued by the Government of Madhya Pradesh under the Samagra Social Security Mission. The entire PDS system in MP is built on the Samagra database, which is why it is mandatory for all ration card services.

There are two types of Samagra IDs:

  • Samagra Family ID – an 8-digit number assigned to the entire household
  • Samagra Member ID – a 9-digit number assigned to each family member

If your family does not have a Samagra ID, visit your nearest Gram Panchayat office (rural) or Ward Office (urban) to register. You can also check and manage your Samagra profile at samagra.gov.in. Once you have your Samagra ID and all family members are added with correct Aadhaar details, you can proceed with the ration card application.

Card Categories in Madhya Pradesh

MP issues three types of ration cards based on annual household income:

Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY)

For the poorest households with no stable income, including landless agricultural labourers, daily wage workers, widows, and elderly persons with no support. Each AAY household receives 35 kg of food grains per month at subsidised rates regardless of family size.

Below Poverty Line (BPL)

For families living below the poverty line with an annual income of less than Rs 10,000. BPL cardholders receive subsidised food grains through the PDS under NFSA. Each eligible member gets 5 kg of food grains per month.

Above Poverty Line (APL)

For families with an annual income above Rs 10,000. APL cardholders receive limited or no subsidy on food grains, but can use the card as proof of identity and address for other government services.

For both AAY and BPL categories, subsidised rates are rice at Rs 3 per kg, wheat at Rs 2 per kg, and coarse grains at Rs 1 per kg.

Adding or Removing a Family Member

Since MP’s ration card database is directly linked to Samagra, all member additions and removals are managed through the Samagra portal.

Adding a Member

Log in to samagra.gov.in with your Samagra Family ID. Go to your family profile and add the new member with their name, date of birth, Aadhaar number, and relationship. Once the member is added to Samagra and their Aadhaar is verified, they can be included in the ration card beneficiary list through the m-Ration Mitra portal or by visiting your local Gram Panchayat or Ward Office.

Removing a Member

Visit the m-Ration Mitra portal or your Gram Panchayat or Ward Office to submit a request for member deletion. Upload the supporting document, such as a death certificate. For corrections in ration card details, go to the m-Ration Mitra portal and use the ration card correction service, or visit the nearest CSC or Lok Seva Kendra.

Aadhaar Seeding and e-KYC

Aadhaar seeding is mandatory for all family members in MP. Without it, the Patra Parchi is not valid for collecting food grains at Fair Price Shops. Biometric authentication is required at ePoS machines at the FPS.

To complete Aadhaar seeding, visit your nearest e-Mitra centre, CSC, or Fair Price Shop with Aadhaar cards of all family members and your Samagra ID. The operator or FPS dealer will complete biometric verification on site. You can track your family’s Aadhaar seeding and e-KYC verification status on the m-Ration Mitra portal by entering your Samagra Family ID on the Dashboard.
